Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation is seeking a Field Services & Support Engineer for our Huntington Beach, CA facility.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Field Services & Support Engineer is accountable for supervision, development, and support of Sharp Authorized Dealers and Servicers within an assigned geographic area. The Field Support Specialist monitors, investigates and provides in-depth reporting on Product Quality and Dealer/Servicer performance targeted at maximizing customer satisfaction at minimal expense to the company. Suggests, recommends and implements strategies that will enhance the overall performance of the Service Network.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support and assistance to dealers, end users, field technicians and internal staff via telephone, e-mail, other electronic means, or direct visits and / or through technical seminars.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining programs to proactively monitor the performance of product after release. Responsible for routinely compiling this information and providing feedback to management, factories, sales, and other pertinent parties. Responsible for collection and analysis of defective parts and quality information from the field to quickly detect and correct product performance issues.
- Assists Network Administration Department in selecting, authorizing and or terminating Sharp Authorized Servicers. Responsible for monitoring, through direct contact, Sharp Servicers and dealers to assist in any administrative and service related issues.
- Maintains records of all open issues. Ensures satisfactory closure of quality issues is reached in an expeditious manner to protect the Sharp brand image and minimize excessive service costs.
- Provides timely responses to all inquiries for assistance from external customers. Thoroughly communicates resolution to applicable persons through phone contact, e-mail, technical bulletin, or other available means.
- Assist in developing, writing and administering new product training.
- Prepares reports, as requested by Department Manager, on issues such as product performance, parts usage, warranty claims, or other reports as required.
- Maintains field files in a thorough and complete manner.
- Responsible for monitoring and controlling travel related budgets as set by the Department Manager.
- Assists in developing, and steering through the organization, service programs and strategies necessary to provide post sales support of assigned products.
- Assists in evaluations of new products to assure the quality and serviceability of the product prior to launch.
- Assists in planning, coordinating and providing reports on product reworks and field upgrade programs.
Job Requirements:
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
