Sharp Introduces 46-Inch Display Module for Signage Applications, Advancing Innovations for the Digital Signage Market

New display offers high contrast ratio and excellent response time

CAMAS, Wash.March 8, 2007Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas has introduced a new 46-inch LCD panel module, demonstrating commitment to delivering best-in-class products for the digital signage market. The new large-format display module delivers a contrast ratio of 1800:1 and a 6 ms (millisecond) response time. This display, part of Sharp’s growing family of large format LCD panels, is specifically designed for signage applications, such as those commonly found in airports, train stations, malls, and casinos.

The new LK460D3LZ19 46-inch module incorporates the innovative product features Sharp is known for; it also capitalizes on the company’s extensive manufacturing capacity through its new environmentally-friendly Kameyama No. 2 LCD factory. The new larger format display is an ideal component for use in electronic signage, gaming facilities, malls, airports, train stations, and retail environments. The display offers high resolution combined with a small pixel pitch for a clean image and easier, up-close viewing. This panel features a long-lasting design, low maintenance costs, and improved performance.

Key features of the 46-inch display module include:

  • Full-HD resolution and display (1920 × 1080)
  • High contrast ratio of 1800:1
  • 6 ms response time
  • Advanced Super View Technology
  • Wide viewing angle

In addition to these most-requested features, the display offers 16 million colors, a 16:9 aspect ratio, panel brightness of 450 nits and a symmetrical viewing cone of 176 degrees x 176 degrees.

This display is built in the world’s first Generation 8 LCD factory, Kameyama No. 2. Sharp believes that Kameyama No. 2 is one of the most environmentally advanced LCD factories in the world featuring the largest solar cell installation in Japan, 100 percent waste water recycling and a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent.

“The introduction of a large-format display module aimed at the electronic signage market demonstrates Sharp’s commitment to not only offer our customers the best products and technology, it reinforces our commitment to an emerging and advancing segment of the industry,” said Sriram Peruvemba, Senior Manager, Product Marketing at Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas. “This new Sharp display has all the features our customers are looking for: Excellent quality, low failure rates, and Sharp backs them up with our great customer care and service.”
