Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation is seeking a Solar Sr. Engineer Product Manager-Commercial/Utility for our Huntington Beach, California facility.

Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for defining the product vision and follow a product development process to define and prioritize the attributes of value for selected market segments within the commercial rooftop and electric utility markets, with a focus on modules. Convert market-defined attributes into high value solutions, preparing the product roadmaps, market requirements specifications, managing the development of solutions and providing cradle-to-grave product management.

Job Responsibilities:
Goal Set:

• Benchmark at least 6 commercial offerings in mounting systems.
• Conduct VOC exercises to establish attributes of value, priorities, and scores for competitors. Launch at least 2 new product development campaigns per year.
• Coordinate development effort with SMCA, SLA, Japan and outside experts under an Open Innovation framework. Develop concepts, drawings, and prototypes.
• Contribute to the functional specification for the next generation residential support structures.
• Consider fire codes explicitly and ensure that product development programs will result in compliant products prior to enforcement periods.
• Develop and manage a product line roadmap for each fiscal. Create and sustain a business process for new product launch within SESG. Support roll out of new products.

Position Specifications:

• Conduct a minimum of 10 customer visits per year.
• Prepare monthly reports, and propose fiscal budgets and plans.
• Serve as the central resource for all issues related to the “200” series of modules.

Job Requirements:

• Advanced degree preferred- ME/EE
• 8-12 years direct PV experience
• Experience with product development systems(e.g., stagegate)
• Some travel required, including overseas
• Demonstrated record of self-motivated approach and being able to work in a team environment that is fast paced.
• Computer competencies-Office, Project, Visio.
• Record of managing others, from planning growth through hiring and day-to-day management.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including group presentations.
• Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
